One day at the lake

a little Story

Here you will find all information about the founding of AZB.

My name is Dennis Bornewasser, I am 34 years old and originally from the Bergisches Land region. As the founder of AZB, my passion for adventure, excursions, and practical solutions inspired me to turn my own ideas into innovative products.

The E.D.C. Bag is actually my first idea that I have now realized and am offering for sale online. The origin of this idea came during a trip to the lake. Even on the way there, the walk was disturbed by the constant clinking of cans and bottles in the backpack. Once we arrived, we found that the drinks were not only thoroughly shaken but also significantly warmer.

This is precisely where the idea for a practical backpack insert for up to six drinks, which are quickly accessible, came from. I invested a lot of time and passion from the first sketch to the finished functional sample – and I think a truly well-thought-out solution has emerged.

By purchasing my products and with your help, I can continue to realize further ideas in the future and thus always offer new exciting products. So tell me your opinion or share your improvement approaches with me.

The first self-sewn cool bag was created

After a first sketch, I created an initial functional sample on my sewing machine. It was more work than I initially thought, but I simply didn't want to and couldn't give up.

  • The breakdown

3 Down - 3 Up

The V-shaped opening and the two sections that fold away from each other allow access to all 6 items simultaneously. That was an absolute game changer for me. Over time, friends noticed and liked the concept, asking if I could sew more. So I wondered if it wasn't time to take the first step and contact a few manufacturers.

  • A first factory sample

Nothing is perfect...

After receiving the first factory sample, I noticed a few more errors and things that could be improved. For example, on the right you can see a functional cardboard prototype that I liked to test with before doing anything on the sewing machine.

  • Change of Opening

The rolltop

Initially, the bag was sealed with two flaps, which, however, did not provide good airtightness and thus caused the cooling function to diminish more quickly. The solution was a roll-top opening that is virtually airtight. This allows the insulating materials to show their full strength. And that's exactly what they do!

  • The second pattern

We need another color...

After some time, the second sample arrived with some new features, such as compatibility for use on bicycles, motorcycles, or in cars. In addition, the new roll-top could be tested live for the first time. All in all, I was already very satisfied, but I simply didn't like the color scheme. So a new sample was needed, and that's how we got to the final shot...

  • The last one

The E.D.C.- Bag

Here it is, the Every-Day-Cooling Bag, just as I wanted it. Absolutely universally usable for many situations and adventures. Extremely sturdy and well-made in two very nice colors.

I use this model almost every day and truly wouldn't want to do without it anymore.

See for yourselves and try it out. ;)
